No. Based upon industry guidelines, grant writers are not allowed to be compensated with a percentage or commission of grant award. It is considered to be unethical by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Grant Professionals Association, and is considered to be in contrast to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for nonprofit fundraising. Additionally, paying grant writers this way can result in the revocation of grant awards.
